Watch it and be Sober !

1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer.

Because the Lord is coming again. Then we must be sober. In other words we must be sound and right in mind. We must watch unto prayer by being alert and awake by praying consistently. We must maintain an interest in the things of God. We must make sure we are fit for prayer by being in the word of God and applying it to our lifes.Obviously by watching we can be kept sober.

Mark 13:33-36 World English Bible (WEB)

33 Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you don’t know when the time is.

34 “It is like a man, traveling to another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch.

35 Watch therefore, for you don’t know when the lord of the house is coming, whether at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning;

36 lest coming suddenly he might find you sleeping.

Yes in regards to Mark 13:33-36. We must watch and be alert to the times we are in. We must watch expecting the Lord to return. We must watch in the sense of being on guard against false prophets and teachers. We must not be caught sleeping by being negligent in our duties. Being complacent. We must be awake to doing the kingdom work. Jesus said "occupy till I come", Luke 19:13.

Being vigilant. Vigilant can mean: keenly alert to or heedful of trouble or danger while others are sleeping.
